Conscious Capitalism Institute

Conscious Capitalism Institute

I personally believe that business is not just about profit, it has to have a purpose beyond it. I came across this website and I like the "Conscious Capitalism".

I am exploring this website but thought of sharing it to wider community.

Bike Share System in India

Amazing how technology can help solving different problems. I personally feel all metro cities in India should have such a system. There are multiple benefits
1. Improves traffic balance
2. Improves health of the people
3. Make the city cleaner.

But the major cities in India don't have proper provision for supporting cyclist!!! Are our urban city planning thinking and planning for next 10 yrs? don't know.

Meta University - Age has come

Interesting thinking, world is going through information revolution. Having a ubiquitous university which allows you to take the course from the best place possible is the way to go. Universities can build on their expertise and attract the best talent. It will allow students to have cross disciplinary learning and specialise on topics they want.

Few other ways such a knowledge network can be leveraged
1. Would be useful if such a knowledge network can be tapped by corporations to provide specific learning to their employees
2. Organisations that are open can provide support to do specific courses employees want to do. Because widening knowledge increases tangential thinking.

It is heartening to know that this article is written by a person belonging to PMO though it is his personal opinion. People part of such high office can do a lot to the country. I just hope his views become a reality.

Ability to store electricity efficiently

Interesting innovation, cannot comment or compare with other storage systems available. But if humans can innovate a safe and efficient way to store electricity then it has many interesting application
1. Full potential of solar electricity for that matter any renewable energy can be fully achieved
2. City planners can work out energy efficient light systems. That can help country like India which wants to increase penetration of availability of (reliable) electricity
3. Has interesting application in hybrid cars/trains it can save a lot of energy

Interesting to see how this space of storing electricity efficiently is evolving.

Economics to layman

I have always been fasinated by economics but got bogged by the way it is communicated to layman like me. But this site is amazing in presenting such complex information/data in an easy to understand visual form.

I can now understand why they say "A picture is worth a thousand words"

Future of Magazines, Books and Newspapers

This is the future unfolding before us at its best.

We are lucky to watch the worlds largest media company camouflaged as technology company (Google) working in building a platform that I believe will be open to all but only Google can monetize it better than all (core competency!!).

People who have content will make money as the editor of sport illustrate says in the end. I see a grand change happening before my eyes and enjoying every bit of it.

Notion Ink

Notion Ink

This was the device I was looking for!! At last there is an organisation that would provide solutions without linking it to existing back end solutions (apple trying to link everything to iTunes!! or Google to its cloud products). Put a world class product, provide the SDK and allow an ecosystem to build don't control it. Was internet controlled, see how the ecosystem has evolved.

Today every product is built with design thinking on how to control the ecosystem!!! I am waiting to get my hand on to this product.

Nice to see a "Made in India" product!!!

Moving to advisory/partnership role

Indian IT companies are going through an interesting phase by repositioning themselves, which is very nicely summarised by this article.

The Hindu Business Line : IT services moving up the value chain

What would be 'message' indian organisation should give? What impact it would have on organisational structure to make them 'market oriented'?

First wave of success was based on the 'Globalisation of the Industry', what would be next thing!!

What is the next level of abstraction?

I was trying to understand the term Taylorism and then went into understanding more about scientific management!!

The Principles of Scientific Management - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Then I realised all these patterns that we try to observe at code level, design level and architecture level is giving us structures which can be taken for granted to allow humans to move to next level (taken a part view here, somebody can debate on that!!!)

So.. Can DSL/MDA give us the next level of software abstraction that we all were looking for because there has been no higher level of abstraction beyond programming languages.

From business perspective it has always been applications as the highest order of abstraction in IT terms. Would SOA change that to something that is more closer to business world? What is that functional building block be? It is interesting that today IFW, IAA exist from a particular vendor IBM, can there be industry accepted standard? Do we require one like that? Don't know but certainly an higher level abstraction is needed on top of application!!!

Lessons for IT from Nano, Jet and Grameen Bank- Software-Infotech-The Economic Times

Lessons for IT from Nano, Jet and Grameen Bank- Software-Infotech-The Economic Times

Interesting article looking forward on the opportunities before Indian IT companies. But what this article is missing to highlight is that many MNCs have already moved in a big way into India, so how would the mix and match their expertise with local skills is to be seen.

Service industry is still very interesting and lot to innovate. Share your views on this!!!

Cricket in India: Moving Into a League of Its Own

Sport marketing is an interesting area, nice to see one happening right before our eyes. IPL and ICL are good things to happen to Cricket, but what scares me is the amount of money that is involved in IPL. Why? When stakes are high, it creates a lot of tension in the system. Is the system ready for it? Not sure. Key concerns would be- Twenty20 is a good format but it has not been fully tested yet, so why invest so much in it?- Players are yet to become completely professional, so would be interesting to see how they manage working with private owners- Audience are confused is it cricket that is marketed or the experience that is marketed!!!Hope in the end cricket come out better on the whole.
